Bodegas Ontañón Antologia Rioja Crianza 2019

As the name suggests Ontañón Antologia is the grapes from the best plots of land around the town of Quel. The grapes are taken from 40 plots in 6 separate vineyards. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small boxes to the winery where they are kept in a cool temperature before hand selection. After fermentation the wine sits in open oak vats until malolactic fermentation has taken place. The wine is then aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months.

Layers of colour, clean, bright, with a cherry red hue and purple tints that denote youth. Fruity notes of blackberries, blackcurrants and cherries. It also has some spicy and roasted notes from the oak aging. In the mouth it has an explosion of flavour, rich and round with a tart cherry dryness on the finish. Medium tannin so accompany this wine with food.
