2012 MONTMARTEL, COTES DU RHONE
This wine has plenty of rustic regional character, very natural unforced quality, a well structured palate with black berry and plum fruits, violets and cedar wood with a dusting of pepper. Drinking well now.
This wine is made in the Cotes du Rhone region of France. The best parcels of vines from the vineyards in the Visan and Tulette villages are selected for this typical local blend.
During harvesting great care is taken to ensure fresh fruit flavours, the fruits are destemmed and gently crushed, during the fermentation period, temperatures are controlled between 18 and 28°C. It lasts for 2 weeks to ensure a good balance between soft tannins and fresh fruit flavours. Only native yeast is used, the wine is not sweetened or aromatised thereby protecting the typicality of the terroir and the vintage.
A great match with grilled chicken, beef stew, black pudding (preferably from Sneem, Co. Kerry), lamb with herbs of Provence and blue cheese.
