| Will I have to work fulltime in the business and what sort of person do I need to be? We prefer people who have no other business interests and are willing to devote their full time and best efforts to the day-to-day operation of the business as an on-premise owner. Our franchises come from many diverse backgrounds. We look for individuals who have:
- An interest in good wine.
- Great personality.
- High personal integrity with a strong desire to succeed.
- The ability to manage finances.
A willingness to complete a training program and become proficient in all aspects of operating a wine buff business. Financial resources.
Do I need to be knowledgeable about wine? No, the training period with the Wine Buff will adequately cover your day-to-day wine knowledge requirements. Some of the Franchisees have gone on to take additional wine courses, however this is not a requirement.
Will I need to be involved in importing wines, paying duty and logistic costs? No, all this is handled by the Franchiser.
Why should I open a Wine Buff shop? A good question! It is proven that 90% of all new non franchised businesses fail within three years. However a recent Gallup Poll of franchisees found that 94% considered themselves successful and that over 75% would buy the franchise again if they had it to do over. With the Wine Buff you minimise risk and give yourself the best possible chance to succeed.
What is my target market? The target markets for the wine buff shops are retail (individual customers), trade (restaurants, bars and hotels) and the corporate sector.
How much money can I make? This depends on your abilities to manage and control the business. Success depends upon a number of factors, including sales, location, and on how you, the franchisee, use the plan and the tools at your disposal.
How many employees do I need to employ and what are the standard business hours? This depends on the size of the shop and volume of business; most stores to date employ part time staff during busy periods. This depends on location; most stores open six days per week for 10.30am to 8pm each day.
What do I do next? You will need to meet with some of the Wine Buff Holdings team to allow both parties to get to know each other and discuss in detail any questions or issues.
How soon can I get started? Depending upon the location, you can usually be in business within 90 days after you have met the requirements for a Wine Buff franchise.
What if I want to sell my Wine Buff business? The Wine Buff will give assistance to you in selling your business and may introduce prospective buyers. However we only become involved in the commercial transaction between you, the franchise owner and the prospective owner, if required. It is necessary that we approve any prospective purchaser and we reserve the right to veto the sale if the proposed purchaser is not acceptable
