This was the first Taste of Offaly event organised by Midlands radio 103, and everyone involved was a little unsure of the expected turnout at the Tullamore Court Hotel on the 20th February. Well all apprehension, quickly dissolved as people arrived at the off and kept visiting throughout the day. Many of the food producers ran out of supplies with an hour or two still to go. Nuala and Arthur from the Wine Buff Tullamore were delighted with the number of visitors to their busy stand during the event, they opened a number of wines and the clear favourite on the day was The Vina Alambrada Crianza 2004 from Spain.
We did a quick tour and below are a selection of photos from other food producers. First off is Paddy from Paddy’s O’Granola supplying gluten free cereals, he was busy all day and sold out all his offerings.
Next up was Tony Garahy with a colourful display from Lough Boora Farm who specialise in weekly boxed deliviers of organic fruit and veg.
The Bread was supplied by the Coolfin Bakery and was a huge success and every single crust gone by the end of the evening.
Yvonne from Hey Pesto was busy all day with cookery demonstrations which where full on all occasions.
There was a great representation from Jam markers, I think four stalls in all. Co Offaly people must have a wee sweet tooth. Â
A great display of Jams from Malones Fruit Farm.
Ballyshiel is a family business making a luxurious range of speciality confectionery and chocolates all hand made to a truly authentic family recipe.
And finally Barbara from Boozeberries was more then happy to talk us through their products and have us sample a few tasters. Â
Well done to all the exhibitors who took part in the event and thanks to all the public who visited. See you again next year.
